As Americans, we have an incessant obsession with all things european. These ideals are mainly manufactured by the rom com's "rite of passage-esque"  dalliance with Italian men and Italian. This romanticization is made quite real with one's first introduction to European (broadly) coffee. Italy is in fact he birth place of cappuccino  ( not Vienna as some would comment-- check out the great synopsis spruceeats.com gives us here). However, I would have to say that the BEST country for coffee and especially for cappuccino is ..... SPAIN.. hands down and for reasons that are expressed elsewhere. 

With that being said-- the best espresso of your LIFE can be found Naples. If you are traveling there, I've included a few of my favorite spots for an espresso... under strict order to be followed by a cold glass of Prosecco....
